The INvicta school of VIsion, Computational intelligence, and patTern Analysis - INVICTA - is a school of artificial intelligence, computer vision and pattern analysis that will take place between 18 and 22 of March 2024 on the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal. INVICTA 2024 is organized by INESC TEC, Porto, Portugal
World-renowned experts in the field will deliver the courses, with both theoretical & practical sessions, covering the topics:
- Causality for Machine Learning | by Julius von Kügelgen, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems Tübingen & University of Cambridge
- Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) | by Jason Eshraghian, UCSC Neuromorphic Computing Group, University of California, USA
- Learning from Synthetic Data | by Naser Damer, Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD & Department of Computer Science, TU Darmstadt, Germany
- Continual Learning | by Gido van de Ven, KU Leuven, Belgium
- Explainable AI | (TBA)
Aside from the theoretical relevance of the keynote sessions, the school also aims to provide a stimulating opportunity for students to be acquainted with real life use cases.
This year, there will be Industrial Sessions as well as AI talks on diversified topics.
Furthermore, we will have a Roundtable focused on “Seeing Beyond: Dissecting AI, Ethics and Society”, where we intend to discuss themes such as ethics and AI, LLMs and their expected impact on the job market, how AI and Computer Vision are shaping consumer behaviour and social networks, and how AI can further exacerbate (or mitigate) biases in our society.

In general, people that have been exposed to introductory topics of Computer Vision and Machine Learning will find this to be an excellent opportunity to grow their knowledge base. The target audience is therefore:
